The Most Fan-Friendly Team in Pro Sports?

Heard a great interview with NHL chief Gary Bettman last week on WFAN.  The NHL is a much stronger league than it was pre-strike and Bettman was clearly bursting with pride.  I can’t seem to find the audio clip on WFAN’s site, but it was nice to hear the confidence in Bettman’s voice and the deep detail he carries with him about his sport.

This was extremely clear when host Mike Francessa asked Bettman about the Chicago Blackhawks ownership.  Francessa thought the Wirtz family, once reviled for keeping home games off local TV and other non-fan friendly moves had sold the team and that was partially the reason for the new sucess.  But Bettman made it clear that this was not the case.  Read the article here from Business Week to get the full story on how the Wirtz family use fan friendly tactics including social media  to  turn the Blackhawks into one of the most fan-friendly teams in professional sports.
