NPR’s Scott Simon knows a lot.  But he didn’t know the details of Phoenix Thomas Mars relationship with Sophia Coppola.  Didn’t know they had a child together, etc.  When he asked Mars about Coppolla, he sounds like a middle school kid.  But Simon is such a skilled interviewer, he just plowed ahead in the discussion, finding out details of how Phoenix and Coppola began work together on Lost In Translation, and how they couple (Mars and Coppola) are now expecting baby number two.

And who is Phoenix you ask?  Well, they are the band with arguably more hooks in use on TV commercials than any other recording artist at this point.  Ads for Cadillac and others that sound futuristic, hip, but not annoying?  That’s what Phoenix sounds like.
